Blog? What?
I was told that blogs can be used as a means to share my thoughts but I have no thoughts to share at the moment because my mind is preoccupied with cleaning. In particular, cleaning the sheets of my bed after Rodent strategically positioned a moist turd on it.
Don’t get me wrong, Rodent is a good cat whose generous gestures are highly appreciated but I struggle to gratefully accept her little sculptures because I’m not an admirer of her creative genius. You might say that we have our artistic differences. In fact, I have made suggestions in the past that she offer gifts which aren’t so DIY but she feels otherwise.
Seeing so much creative passion in someone is something I’d never discourage so instead of refusing her gifts, I secretly toss them in the bin when she isn’t looking. Oh, how her heart would break into tiny chunks of meat if she knew that I do such awful things.
Some time ago, she inquired as to where I all her sculptures were. I told her that I put them aside for safekeeping in a place where only my treasured items are kept. She was very pleased to hear this. What troubles me is that she believes me. She believed my every lie because she trusts me. Wow. When did I turn into such a deceitful monster?
A deceitful monster. Coolness.

A very average blog post
This week has been very average for me, but since I I love anticlimaxes that means my week has actually been utterly fantastic. I have spent many hours in the ace of beige, the average car that it is, sitting in average traffic jams caused by average people with average driving skills having average accidents and sustaining moderate injuries.
Thankfully, this time was not wasted for me as I occupied myself with average philosophical thoughts, not particularly deep or shallow in their own right. One of which was the contemplation of whether a high level of averageness in an individual's life is sustainable. Is it really enough to survive by satisfying the basic requirements of survival: going about one's daily routine in an average calm mental state, having breakfast, going to work, going to the supermarket, cooking dinner, and sleeping? Or, is it vital to spice this up a bit and get some emotional excitement with the feeling of personal superiority from derogatory gossip about ginger acquaintances, or from indulging in risky behaviour like ass pinching a stranger in a crowded night club, or finally saving up and buying that big dildo you've always wanted? However, since many people do these things, they're not that exciting at all but just average in the first place.
There are so many levels of average in this world - often things that seem exciting are really just average if you think about them. Take bass playing for example, exciting on the surface but it's actually quite easy because the bar is so low. Of course there are exceptions, but the majority of bass players play parts that are musically so simple that any technically average bass player is viewed as a virtuoso by an audience. Some people might find ending on this bombshell depressing, but, since I love anticlimaxes and all levels of average, bass playing to me is utterly fantastic.

Garlic....about 70 % proof today, (great curry last night... 3 dishes, used a whole bulb. Take that Edward Cullen!!) ... Well were in the STL the other day, were just finalising things... as you do. Just one observation, the view from there is soooo good when the weather's good, but to see it means we are stuck inside in a hot sweaty studio... So another week... and so great to be back on stage recently (Friday 27 May, Voices for Christchurch). BTW great work by the other acts, good work guys and girls!!
So the news is November... it's going to be one memorable month (all being well), pushed play, on its way/in a belly something grows = to sleep deprivation (criptic eh!).
SO as the only real learned one in this rabble of musos (well, I watch Discovery channel) feel it's my duty to educate....so my (interesting is so subjective) fact and link to Poppydust this blog is 'Mr Mojo Risin' featured in the Doors song LA Woman is an anagram of Jim Morrison... who is buried in Pere-Lachaise Cemetery in Paris. Along with some note worthy others Edith Piaf, Oscar Wilde and including not so world renown but important nonetheless Jean Moulin (meaning windmill), a french Hero and resistance fighter in WWII, who disappeared and his ashes (well they think they were his) were buried in Lachaise until 1964 when they were moved to the Pantheon, on the trip there ironically they would have probably passed the Moulin Rouge (Red windmill)... which was the basis of Baz Lehrmanns take on just about everything including Orphean myth, La Boheme and Verdis La Traviata... Anyhow, the sound track for the movie was written by Martin Brown....thus linking to Poppydust, who have a member with the same name and well poppies are Red, so a link though ever so slightly nebulous. See you in 6 weeks.

Blog
Blog. Rhymes with dog. I like dogs. Every Wednesday (which is our usual PD practice night) I drive past a bunch of middle aged people walking their huskies. I assume this is the Lower Hutt husky club?? Maybe. I wanna join, even though I don’t have a husky. I have always wanted a husky. Buy our album so I can buy a husky. Thanks.
We have had to change practices to Monday for a few weeks due to Paul and I doing Rent. Not like rent that you pay. A musical about paying rent. Exciting stuff.
You know how on Flight of the Conchords has Murray? We have Ivy. She is the best. She does all the stuff we don’t want to do. She also cooks up some mean flied lice. Chur.
Wellywood. Ha. I like the idea of a big sign that says, ‘This is not Australia’ instead. I don’t really mind either way but I do think it is a bit try hard to have a Wellywood sign. Maybe a giant sign that says, ‘FOR SALE, all enquires to J. Key.’
Moral of the story, pre-order our album so I can buy a husky. And maybe New Zealand. And Waylon’s hair.

This is the remix - Way
"This is the remix - what wha wha what!!!" (that's an in-joke that 57 billion or so people MIGHT never know - but seven will smile about it)
Jokes aside, I'm probably seen as arrogant - maybe... I'm just mischief and always have been. I like to hear the rules and then get around them haha.
What's on top of my brain today? PC - politically correct. Why? Because I think society is "victim to systems." Things have to make sense OR fit in a box.
And as some of you read this you may think it's directed at you. It's NOT!!! It's part of the bigger frustrations I get tuned to.
So how do you think this makes YOU feel as a creative person? At the moment I'm (personally) anti-establishment, probably doesn't make sense considering my job. The way I see it, THIS is my job - sharing thoughts and challenging views. Songs I'm writing at the moment are a bit angry I suppose, maybe theres some feelings bottled up, they can only come out :P
I guess that's the touching part about this journey, I can share real thoughts, with you and sing to you 'coz it makes me happy that I'm sharing an idea, feeling, thought, dream with you.
What a lot of people won't realise about me is that once upon a time I was a really good painter. I was likened to Rembrandt. Can I paint now? Not physically BUT musically yes!
One of our band members told us some wicked stuff tonight! That's great news for him - I'm sure he'll share when he's ready.
I think I'll write him a song~
I guess I'm the dark horse in the band - no puns there, well maybe the horse bit haha.
If I could rename the band members to take the p!ss (cos I'm in the mood) they'd be:
Patrick - Mr THAIme - keeper (that didn't turn out to be how I wanted - supposed to be timekeeper, but taking the mickey that Patrick is Filipino rather than Thai)
Stace - Nikki Sixx's wannabe wife
Paul - Pedro (or did I mispel that? lol)
Hayden - Bilbo Baggins (as per the facebook similarities)
Martin - mama
If my band were the Spice Girls they'd be:
Patrick - Five spice haha
Stace - Paprika
Paul - Cumin
Hayden - Saffron (thats my fave one btw bro)
Martin - Curry
That's me - I'm out! Peace 'til you get woken up by the next thing that's gonna get you. Keep your eyes peeled!
Au revoir

Practice...and more practice!
Hey there! Well it’s awesome to be the first of the band to put my thoughts out there – it’s been a really interesting week. A week of change and sometimes adjusting to this takes time which I don’t have! I work full time and my role altered, and alongside this I’ve had to alter my PD practice schedule but it’s for the better. I’m working harder than I ever have. I’ve managed to choreograph dance numbers for a show, practice like mad on my BC Rich and get vocal practice humming (excuse the pun!). Some great planning has taken place around the album – I’m getting excited. I’m putting this out there now…there is no glamour….yet. The band has worked hard in the studio and it’s been a learning curve but can’t wait to get our music out there. This week coming up – I’ll be working on new moves for upcoming gigs, listening to Sixx:A.M’s new album and throwing myself into more Poppy Dust practice, practice, practice and if time allows, writing my own material. Have an awesome week and make sure you pre-order our album…July release date! Rock on…StaceyStar XX
