Blog

Blog. Rhymes with dog. I like dogs. Every Wednesday (which is our usual PD practice night) I drive past a bunch of middle aged people walking their huskies. I assume this is the Lower Hutt husky club?? Maybe. I wanna join, even though I don’t have a husky. I have always wanted a husky. Buy our album so I can buy a husky. Thanks.
We have had to change practices to Monday for a few weeks due to Paul and I doing Rent. Not like rent that you pay. A musical about paying rent. Exciting stuff.
You know how on Flight of the Conchords has Murray? We have Ivy. She is the best. She does all the stuff we don’t want to do. She also cooks up some mean flied lice. Chur.
Wellywood. Ha. I like the idea of a big sign that says, ‘This is not Australia’ instead. I don’t really mind either way but I do think it is a bit try hard to have a Wellywood sign. Maybe a giant sign that says, ‘FOR SALE, all enquires to J. Key.’
Moral of the story, pre-order our album so I can buy a husky. And maybe New Zealand. And Waylon’s hair.

This is the remix - Way

"This is the remix - what wha wha what!!!" (that's an in-joke that 57 billion or so people MIGHT never know - but seven will smile about it)

Jokes aside, I'm probably seen as arrogant - maybe...  I'm just mischief and always have been.  I like to hear the rules and then get around them haha.

What's on top of my brain today? PC - politically correct.  Why? Because I think society is "victim to systems." Things have to make sense OR fit in a box.

And as some of you read this you may think it's directed at you.  It's NOT!!!  It's part of the bigger frustrations I get tuned to.

So how do you think this makes YOU feel as a creative person?  At the moment I'm (personally) anti-establishment, probably doesn't make sense considering my job.  The way I see it, THIS is my job - sharing thoughts and challenging views.  Songs I'm writing at the moment are a bit angry I suppose, maybe theres some feelings bottled up, they can only come out :P

I guess that's the touching part about this journey, I can share real thoughts, with you and sing to you 'coz it makes me happy that I'm sharing an idea, feeling, thought, dream with you.

What a lot of people won't realise about me is that once upon a time I was a really good painter.  I was likened to Rembrandt. Can I paint now? Not physically BUT musically yes!

One of our band members told us some wicked stuff tonight!  That's great news for him - I'm sure he'll share when he's ready.

I think I'll write him a song~

I guess I'm the dark horse in the band - no puns there, well maybe the horse bit haha.

If I could rename the band members to take the p!ss (cos I'm in the mood) they'd be:

Patrick - Mr THAIme - keeper (that didn't turn out to be how I wanted - supposed to be timekeeper, but taking the mickey that Patrick is Filipino rather than Thai)

Stace - Nikki Sixx's wannabe wife

Paul - Pedro (or did I mispel that? lol)

Hayden - Bilbo Baggins (as per the facebook similarities)

Martin - mama

If my band were the Spice Girls they'd be:

Patrick - Five spice haha
Stace - Paprika
Paul - Cumin
Hayden - Saffron (thats my fave one btw bro)
Martin - Curry

That's me - I'm out! Peace 'til you get woken up by the next thing that's gonna get you.  Keep your eyes peeled!

Au revoir

Practice...and more practice!

Hey there!  Well it’s awesome to be the first of the band to put my thoughts out there – it’s been a really interesting week.   A week of change and sometimes adjusting to this takes time which I don’t have!  I work full time and my role altered, and alongside this I’ve had to alter my PD practice schedule but it’s for the better.  I’m working harder than I ever have.  I’ve managed to choreograph dance numbers for a show, practice like mad on my BC Rich and get vocal practice humming (excuse the pun!).  Some great planning has taken place around the album – I’m getting excited.  I’m putting this out there now…there is no glamour….yet.  The band has worked hard in the studio and it’s been a learning curve but can’t wait to get our music out there.  This week coming up – I’ll be working on new moves for upcoming gigs, listening to Sixx:A.M’s new album and throwing myself into more Poppy Dust practice, practice, practice and if time allows, writing my own material.  Have an awesome week and make sure you pre-order our album…July release date!  Rock on…StaceyStar XX
